Cole is still being swaddled for naps and nighttime sleep. Because his face itches him so much, it has been the best way for us to prevent him from hurting himself. He also sleeps pretty well that way, so we'd been a little afraid to change things up. However, he's over it. He's been ready to sleep with his arms out and about.
After some looking around, Mom found "Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit." The suit is designed to help babies transition from being swaddled to sleeping freely. It's got some cushion (as you can see in the pictures!) to help absorb some of the startles that tend to wake babies up. The additional upside for us is that Cole can have his arms out, but can't quite reach up to his eyes and forehead to scratch.
He slept in the suit last night, and so far so good. He does seem a little confused by it, and honestly, we can't stop laughing every time we see him in it.
That famous line from A Christmas Story keeps running through our heads...
"I CAN'T PUT MY ARMS DOWN!"
We know, we know... he's going to get us back for this someday.
