Cole has been a busy little man this week. We continue to have weather in the 60's here in Kansas City, so we've been out for lots of walks with Miss Ralphie. Cole LOVES to go for walks. He spends most of the time cooing, staring blankly at neighbors who say "hi" to him, playing with a toy, and smiling up at Mom while she describes what's going on in the neighborhood. 99% of the time, a walk outside puts a crabby Cole into a good mood (just like his mother).
He enjoys tummy time a lot more now. He's still refusing to roll over anymore. He'll roll to his side, do some pilates and will grab on to his legs. He's also starting to bring his knees up under himself while he's on his belly... Mom compares it to a modified plank position. He still continues to get distracted by chewing on his arm, wrist or hand. Tummy time usually results in a big 'ol drool or spit up puddle on the floor. (Sorry about the fuzzy second picture... I think I moved my hand at just the wrong time).
He likes staring at his good looking self in the mirror, and grabbing on to anything that is put in his hands. He continues to be curious about Ralphie, and this week Mom has started to let him "pet" her. The first time, his fingers spread wide the second he touched her hair. They immediately grabbed on to a chunk of hair and started to pull. Ralphie did not mind at all, as she was happily attempting to clean him up after a messy bottle. Everybody wins.
He's getting more steady while sitting in his Bumbo chair, and will turn his head while sitting up to watch what Mom, Dad, or Ralphie are doing. He seems to prefer sitting up lately, and will curl up while in his bouncer (which he seems to be too big for these days) or car seat to try to sit up more.
Sucking on fingers continues to be a favorite pastime.
He's been sleeping through the night for a while now, but has a wonderful habit of waking for the day at 5 or 5:30am. We usually attempt to ignore him until 6, as to not encourage this early waking, and it doesn't seem to matter what time he goes to bed... that's just when he wants to start his day. We HOPE that this is just a phase. In the meantime, Mom is taking in a steady stream of caffeine.
