Little Drummer Boy

Cole has been a very busy boy lately. Friday we paid a visit to the allergist for some re-testing on his allergies. He was re-tested for milk, soy, corn, and wheat. When he was tested at 4 months, the test came back negative to milk and soy (to our surprise). This time, however, he did react. We'll continue to hold off on dairy, and discuss slowly introducing it at his next appointment in August. He'll be re-tested for other allergies then as well (eggs, nuts, and milk and soy again).

Yesterday Cheeks had his swallow study at Central DuPage Hospital. He was such a brave boy. He was tested using plain barium, barium paste mixed in with his pureed baby food, and barium that was thickened. The test showed that sometimes food or drink does penetrate his airway, but the upside is that he does not aspirate it. To help, we'll try thickening his formula to make it less "slippery."

He was such a trooper. There were lots of tears during the test (Mom had to work very hard to hold hers back), but as soon as we were done, and he'd had his regular bottle and food, he was a happy camper again. He happily waved at people in the waiting room and showed off his growling sounds.

As you can see, he was no worse for the wear when we got home. Great job, Big Boy!!!!
