Cheeks got sick over Thanksgiving. He ran a fever for close to a week, so Mom took him to the doctor last Monday. His doctor thought that Cheeks likely had a sinus infection. The poor guy was really wiped out and spent most of his days sleeping and wanting cuddles.
Along with the sinus infection came a lack of appetite. Cole only wanted to eat purees, and because he wasn't eating much of anything, we didn't push on the solids.
Now this week, we've got a little monster on our hands. He's still a little under the weather either due to a stomach bug or a reaction to antibiotics, so we're cutting him a little slack. BUT, he wants to be held constantly. While we love the cuddles, carrying around a 25 pound person all day makes things a little challenging. (Mom is considering digging out her baby sling). He's also still not wanting to eat solid food. His speech therapist came by today for therapy, and Cole spent the whole session sobbing about eating a carrot and small piece turkey burger. It appears we are back to square one.
So, some lessons learned from this experience, and time for some understanding combined with a little bit of tough love. We're going to go back to letting him eat some purees (we'll keep some pureed meat around) while going back to lots of praise and encouragement to eat solids.
You are a tricky one, Mr. Cheeks!
