Busy Boy!

Cole has been a busy little boy! He's adjusting well to life in Naperville, and we've been trying to get out as much as possible to enjoy the warm weather.

Unfortunately, for Cole, that meant shopping for summer clothes and hats. Thankfully, he's usually a pretty patient little guy.

One of Cole's favorite spots in our new house is the island in the center of our kitchen. He likes to sit under it and watch while Mom prepares his meals.

He has also figured out how to grind his teeth. It is a horrible sound. The first day he started grinding them, he did it constantly. Now he does it mostly during meals.

His index finger continues to be his favorite.

He likes to practice standing on everything... the coffee table, toy baskets, doorways, his music table, and even blocks that are only a few inches off the ground. He can take a couple steps while holding on to hands or his walking toy.

Cole and Mom go to music class on Friday mornings. Cheeks seems to really enjoy it. He likes listening to the music and crawling from person to person to say hello. He usually gets a little whiney towards the end of class. Today there were some tears, and a 3 year old named Josh came over to give Cole a big hug. It was pretty cute!

In other news, we went to see a new doctor for Cole's feeding issues. He continues to have some problems eating solids, and he's starting to get frustrated with the bottle again. This doctor was wonderful. Throughout the visit, he made sure that Mom was comfortable with and understood everything he was saying. He believes that Cole's issues with eating, his lack of smiling in the earlier months, and speech delay (no babbling yet - "ma ma", "da da", "ba ba") are all related. Anatomically Cole is just fine, but the muscles & nerves in his mouth, cheeks and jaw just aren't coordinating together quite right.

We will be meeting with a speech therapist next Wednesday for an evaluation. We are hopeful that we'll be able to make some more progress. Wish us luck!
